My wife and I moved from San Diego, CA to Blaine, WA in the midst of last month's monumental snow/ice storm. Our house was vacant, and we were surprised by the number of heating issues it had. Most critical of all was the way we got (and did not get) hot water despite the fact that the house has two functioning 50-gallon tanks. Several reputable HVAC contractors, who were booked up for several weeks, were unable to figure out why hot water (in the shower) starts very hot and turns very quickly to warm and then cold. We were really frustrated but decided to try one more contractor. I called ANDGAR, a name I was not familiar with but that had good reviews on the internet. I was really hoping that they would send me an older and experienced technician who would be able to figure out what the others couldn't. Instead, they sent a young, polite technician by the name of Jon Brouwer, who I didn't think would have a chance! I am writing this review to share that I am very happy that I was totally wrong! Jon listened well to our observations and very methodically started eliminating what the problems couldn't be. He was able, very cleverly, to zoom in on and diagnose the problem. It was a malfunctioning valve, which, as soon as he turned it off, allowed hot water to keep flowing with no end in sight. In all honesty, this was the highlight of our move to Washington. There is nothing more important than having the patience to apply a methodical approach to diagnose the problem. We are deeply indebted to Jon and will ask for him, in person, when it's time to service all our HVAC, water heaters, and fireplaces. Somehow this review, which I wrote in Feb. 2019, has just got posted now (I may have forgotten to click on the post button!). The reason I am writing again (on Jan. 23, 2026) is to add that I just had Maddy at Andgar Mechanical send me a technician to replace a 26-year-old water heater which has just failed today. A young professional and very polite young man by the name of Jackson Apol showed up. After talking with him a little, I decided to give him a chance, and I am glad I did. He did an extremely marvelous and impeccable job throughout the replacement, which left us very thankful to Andgar. My wife reminded me that's why we keep going to Andgar.

I had Andgar come out to take a look at a hot water heater connected to my radiant floor heat. YouTube University pointed me in the right direction of the fix, but I was not 100% confident in my ability to bleed the air out of the line when filling the tank back up. The last thing I wanted to do was mess up my heat during the winter because of some overlooked step. Andgar agreed with my assessment of the issue, which always makes you trust a company and their work that much more. They also pointed out another item that required attention that I likely would have overlooked. While the technician was assessing the root cause, I asked some questions to better understand my system. Shoutout to Calvin for taking the time. The price was reasonable, and the issue got resolved quickly. 10/10 would recommend Andgar to anyone needing work done on their hot water heater, but the 1,000+ reviews kind of speak for themselves.

Hybrid water heaters need a tech that has some experience with them. After the heat pump part of a water heater failed, I called Andgar and the tech, Brad, took good care of us. He is knowledgeable, timely, and pleasant to work with. A thermistor had failed and we had the spare part. Tip: Timing matters for the tech to be able to call the manufacturer during the service call, during their office hours. These units are WiFi-connected so the manufacturer can walk a tech through testing various components. Might save another trip out. Will definitely call Andgar for any future repairs needed.

Shawn (Sean?) came out this morning to check on my hot water heater and see about replacing it. He spent some time looking for a replacement that would fit my limited space. He found one, told me exactly how much it would cost, including installation and removing the old one that was full of manganese or whatever that pink gunk that builds up from the hard water here. Got it all done and finished by early afternoon. Very professional and courteous.

I left a message on their website over the weekend, and by Monday morning they called me back and scheduled an appointment for noon the same day. Yesterday I was getting ready to take my wife to the hospital for surgery when I discovered water on the garage floor—the water heater had died. I called ANDGAR and they offered to send someone out right away. I said how about tomorrow? We set an appointment for 10:00 a.m. In the morning, the tech called to say he was on the way and he arrived a little before 10:00. By noon I had a completely new water heater installed and working. The techs were great, very professional and friendly. I will definitely call ANDGAR the next time I have a plumbing issue.

We had multiple plumbing and water heater problems, although not urgent, were annoying. However, the water heater problem was persistent and problematic enough that 3 different HVAC companies we approached previously did not have a clue on how to fix it. Eventually, our neighbor recommended Andgar to us. We were happy with their service and reasonable pricing. Consequently, we employed them to solve all our plumbing and heater issues. In the process, we have come to know quite a few members of their team. Stephani and Katie at the office are efficient in scheduling with pleasant communication skills. Ken is the skillful electrician who helped us with the heater temperature controls. The plumbers, Jackson, Drew, Victor, and Mitch, are all very knowledgeable, energetic, with commendable professional attitude in doing their various jobs. We enjoyed talking to them and serving them refreshments. They would not hesitate to consult their mentor, John the Chief Plumber, when they are not sure with their own judgments. John came several times to help solve the puzzling water heater problems. All in all, we are happy that we have found a very reliable and capable company to take care of our plumbing and HVAC maintenance.

We woke up to not having any hot water. I called ANDGAR and they had Drew come out the same day. He was punctual, polite, professional, and diagnosed the problem. He returned the next day with the parts and fixed our hot water. All of the service personnel from ANDGAR have been top notch over the many years of service. John at Andgar is awesome. I just can't say enough about the positive experience we had. I used Lynden Sheet Metal for all my properties for years, but when a few customer service items arose and I needed someone in a pinch, I decided to give Andgar a try. He solved a complex hot water heater issue promptly. Then, 2 months later, our hot water pressure went to near nothing, and I had no clue. John quickly assessed that we likely had some well water sediment break loose and it caused a blockage. Though this was not the fault of their own, John sent two guys up right away to fix the clog and didn't even charge me. These guys really take care of their customers.
